Les Systemes Archimede Inc.
St Frédéric, de Beauce  QC

As its founding president, Poirier was both CEO and chief designer of both the housing system and its proprietary production machinery. Sole holder of  Canadian & US patents , he held 51% of shares while Placide Poulin and partners held the rest. We self-financed since in 1980, bank interest rates where up to 20%...if you could get a loan.

This  lower costs, convenience and speed of construction of our concepts attracted a lot of press attention and sales, giving us the need to build a second factory just 3 years later. Our award-winning building system generated over 2000 houses and commercial structures that are still in great shape today, having required minimal maintenance. These were sold and erected  in seven countries, from the Arctic to the Tropics.

1980-85

The company quickly found niche markets in Canada  and abroad. Flooding areas, high wind Arctic sites, ski resorts, mountain steep  construction, earthquake prone sites etc…

Even high-tech industrial programs like the explosion proof building shown below, a demand from the largest utility in North¿America.

It was awarded the Mercury Prize and named innovation of the year 1984 by the Association of Canadian Bankers. At the Annual Housing fair in Montreal, it has gained  8 habitas trophies over the years.
Poirier sold the Canadian patent to his partners and immigrated to the USA in 1985 to pursue commercial construction innovations along the same lines, but also to upgrade the Archimede system with computerized CAD systems and robotic.
